Artsy

Always looking for new things to do with my website since it's soooo far from where I want it to be....took these today to possibly add to the art lesson pages....

Laila

What a sweet dog Laila is! Such a cuddlebug, and for a piece of chicken she'll do anything. We had her in sunglasses, wearing hats & pearls...we ended up doing photos for each month for a possible calendar. (Featured above are some of the spring, summer, and fall poses...) My crazy dog, Quilla, was excited to make a new friend, too...

Birth Announcements

This weekend I had fun creating several birth announcement designs for two families. I don't have this size added to my site yet, so I wanted to post some examples and info on these. Both these announcement examples are 4x7, and are printed in sets of 25. (envelopes included) $30 per set...and that includes the design services!

Both familes selected which photos they wanted to use, the wording, card size, and colors. I created several design variations for them to choose from. This is the same process for any invitation, card, or announcement you'd like for me to create for you.

For one of the designs, the family has a theme that I will be carrying over onto a headboard & footboard for them. They sent me some examples of styles they liked, so I played around with that theme for them. Fun, fun!!

"Peanut"

Another sweet little newborn!! This precious little girl has a special place in my heart - her Mom was my first Maternity photo shoot, so I've been extra anxious to meet her and do her newborn photos. Her maternal Grandma was here as well, so we were able to get all three lovely ladies in some "three generations" portraits. Congratulations on your beautiful little girl!

Puppy Love

Such a sweet family, and what adorable little puppies!! I had fun getting shots of the kids playing with their four-legged Cowboys fan...and in a few months there will be another little cowboy fan in the family (a little cowgirl, to be exact), so we got some maternity shots of Mom as well.

One "Sweet" Deal!

Some cool new things to be looking out for at the studio...

First, I'm VERY excited to be partnering up with Rhonda from "All About Cake" here on post!
We're hammering out the details for a 1st Birthday special. We'll capture those precious
1st- taste -of -cake moments with a photo session including a mini cake from Rhonda, and you'll
also get a cake for the actual birthday celebration as well!

Lots of cool new props for me to play with, too! Butterfly Wings, a Rocking Horse, some vintage hats, gloves & necklaces, funky chair (I LOVE that antique store in Barstow....) ...and a reflective floor, tule skirt, oversized flower, & chef's hat are in route. I can't wait to play around with these!

Coming soon to my website : Information about another mounting option for your portraits & details about customized photo books.

And finally, some updates on Art Lessons and custom Works of Art...

Session II for the group Art Lessons for Home Schoolers will be starting in mid February. If you participated in the first session, you'll be receiving the information via e-mail from me tomorrow. Please feel free to share this with any friends that are interested. If you, or someone you know, would like more details about this art class please contact me- missie@sunflowerstudiosite.com.

Between photo sessions, private & group art lessons, and requests for custom artwork, my calendar is filling quickly! It's a great thing, and I can't thank you enough for keeping me on my toes. Please keep checking out my blog and website & visiting me at my table at post events!

CONGRATULATIONS, ALI !!!

A huge congratulations to Photographer Ali Mocabee....someone I am incredibly lucky to know & whom I owe a lot to. Her work, "Yellow Brick Road" was selected by the editors of PCPhoto magazine as the Grand Prize Winner in the This is My World contest! It will be appearing in the March/April 2009 issue...you can bet your bibby I'll be asking her to autograph a copy for me :-)
I met Ali when we were stationed in Kansas, and she has been a HUGE influence on me and I really admire her & her work. For those of you familiar with the Manhattan, KS, area this photo was taken out at Konza Prairie.

If you're headed to Ft Riley, you're in luck!!! Make sure you call her to get an appointment .... there's a link to her site on my site, so some of you may have already seen some of her amazing work. Check her out! www.alimocabeedesigns.com Congratulations, Ali!! You rock!!

Pure Joy

It's the little moments between a parent and child that I just love!

Oh, sweet cheeks!

This sweet family came in for some family shots as well as pics of their two adorable kiddos. How could I not be a little "click happy" with those sweet little baby cheeks on their 4 month-old daughter?!
