Meet the "Coronado Sandman!" Google him, and you'll fin 27,000 hits....you can also find him on Myspace. He's a resident of Coronado, and does large scale artwork on the streets using sand, a broom, or a dustpan. I took these pics back in the beginning of April when my brother & his family came to visit. We unknowingly parked in a cul-de-sac that he does most of his work in. After a day of sightseeing we headed back to the car to discover the entire street and sidewalks leading up to the Hotel Del Coronado covered in drawings, and "The Sandman" hard at work writing a message in the street. (He was writing, "Today is the first day of the rest of your lives." There was a sunset wedding being set up, so he wrote that, and then in a large heart the names of the bride & groom) Apparently there's even a 24 hour webcam up to view him at work at that location. That was our first time out to Coronado, so we'd never heard about him before or seen his work - I consider it a lucky treat that we stumbled upon him in action. We talked for about 30 mins about his art ... super nice guy! If you are out & about Coronado, look for him :-) (he has beautiful handwriting, by the way....he writes with a dustpan how some artists write with a calligraphy pen or Sumi brush!)

Orange Crush
Yesterday AM I met up with this fabulously fun family. Had a lot of laughs, and oh yeah - some pictures, too! They were rockin' the orange (their favorite color) in a lot of pics, which totally just goes along with their personalities...bold, fresh, and fun! We also snuck in some secret shots of Mom's two favorite men showing off for her...I think she'll get a kick out of 'em for sure ;-) Lots of hugs and kisses to go around in addition to the laughs; I love capturing those totally natural, tender moments of families interacting...

Sleeping Beauty
Ooooooo I just love newborns! This little sleeping beauty was born April 14th, and she has the thickest and softest little head of hair I've ever seen on a newborn. She just slept so peacefully the entire session. Both Mom & Dad are in the Army, so of course we got some patriot shots...
Congratulations on your little "peanut!"

Stars & Stripes
Got back from San Diego this weekend and hit the ground running with an evening photo shoot on Sunday. Mom won this free photo session (with an 11x14 of her choice!) at the OCSC Mardi Gras event - all the proceeds from the auction went to the scholarships they give out annually. We be-bopped to different locations here on post, as well as got some studio shots. They're a super sweet family, and I was glad to be able to get these shots for them before they face another deployment. We did each of the kids with Dad individually in addition to the family shots, and of course we included their 4-legged family member, too! I had fun getting to know them, and look forward to knowing they're all back together safe & happy after this deployment.

The 39,600 calorie shot
I just had to post a few more from this little guy's session! I just love how the lollipops turned out....(and for the record, that's 39,600 calories worth of lollipops...and that little baby is just as sweet!)
Mike and I are headed to San Diego to begin the first round of his chemo...I'm anxious for this all to be over for him. I want to thank everyone again for all the prayers, well wishes, and offers of help & support! I've had a few people ask, so I do just want to make sure you all know that I am still booking session. Obviously Mike is my first priority, but we will be back here between sessions and both want to keep life normal :-) Please don't hesitate to call or e-mail - I will have my cell and computer with me this week, but with limited access; I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Have a great Easter! Smiles, Missie

Adorable!
Oooooo is this little man so adorable! We did an evening photoshoot for this 11 week old cutie, and I just love the little grin on him peeking over Dad's shoulder. He was such a calm and patient little guy- we did several changes and themes, and he was such a good sport the whole time. Mom and Dad were so sweet to watch interacting with him, too. You may have noticed that Dad's name isn't on his uniform- for safety and privacy, I will blur out names on military uniforms in photos I post on my blog or use on my website. The names won't be blurred out on any portrait orders, though. I will continue to do this for any patriot portraits. And speaking of patriotic portraits- don't forget to check out the blog post on "Hugs from Home!" The first part of my paperwork has been completed with OpLove; within 30 days I'll be officially added to their website...I'm so excited!!

Desert Winds
The morning started off calm and sunny....but by the time we started our session last Thursday afternoon, the desert winds were howling! I've been here about 10 months now, but that was definetly the worst I've seen it...but that didn't stop us from getting some Tiefort pics, as well as some other mountain views out by "Blackie." (By the time we wrapped up the session you couldn't even see Tiefort with all the sand blowing). This great family kept up the smiles, though, with no troubles. (And probably got a few laughs out of me trying to get my door open to my car and get in it before it slammed shut on me...took me a few trys....)
After I got all the sand out of my mouth and hair, I packed up for another trip to my favorite city...San Diego! My brother, his wife, and my little niece came out to visit from NJ...Julianna is turning 1 this month! I'll be posting some of her 1st Birthday pics soon with the details on the 1st Birthday "Sweet Shot" promotion I'm doing with Rhonda Morgan. (She was the tidiest little cake eater I ever saw! I think us four adults dove more into the cake than she did....) We all had a blast at Coronado Island & the San Diego Zoo....I got some great shots of a street artist & the zoo that I'll post soon, too. Tomorrow I'm shooting a Change of Command Ceremony, and Thursday I've got a handsome little newborn ... my art lessons are all still going full swing and making some great projects, and Friday my parents arrive from NJ! (never a dull moment...I love it!)
This coming weekend we'll head back to San Diego - Mike's first round of Chemo starts, so we're anxious for that. I will be bringing my computer to work on my photo sessions - no sure yet what the internet situation will be, but please still e-mail or call my cell phone and I'll get back to you ASAP!! I'm now booking sessions for June on, so the sooner you call the better :-) Don't forget to check out my blog post about "Hugs from Home!" and check back soon for the details on the "Sweet Shots" 1st Birthday. Smiles!
